How It Started
The vision for Trailhound Cabin Co was born on vacation. In hindsight, it’s fitting. Our founders had rented an AirBNB for the weekend and kept noticing ways it could all have been done better, from moving processes online to improved cleaning, and even just answering the phone consistently.
We’ve seen that the Black Hills market is ready for a company with a creative, forward-thinking approach to the full potential of a vacation rental. Additionally, we give a percentage of every stay back to our local community. We have exciting plans for the future and will remain, in the meantime, committed to great service and the gift of vacation.
Nathan Hoogshagen
I’m Nathan Hoogshagen, raised in Spearfish and proud to call South Dakota home. I love the spirit of community, the beauty of our landscapes, and the opportunity to help others feel welcome and inspired by this place I’m lucky to live in. Whether sharing favorite local spots, connecting with friends and neighbors, or taking on new challenges with a positive attitude, I try to bring authenticity, enthusiasm, and genuine care to everything I do. The Black Hills' open skies and welcoming people make every day an adventure worth sharing.
Tracy Hoogshagen
I’m Tracy Hoogshagen, proud to call South Dakota, and especially the Black Hills, my home. To me, home is about comfort, connection, and making people feel genuinely cared for. I have a deep appreciation for this community, the beauty that surrounds us, and the small details that turn everyday moments into meaningful ones. From offering a listening ear to creating a space where others feel at ease, I do my best to lead with warmth, thoughtfulness, and heart. Life here is best when it’s lived with intention and shared with others. Welcome home.
